Our Next Chapter…

We are Bruce and Lynette Bayne, and these are our adventures aboard two sailboats – S/V No Regrets, our 1980 Fast Passage 39 sailboat, and S/V Cerca Trova, our 2008 Manta 42 Mk IV catamaran. We worked a lifetime to get to this point–the next chapter of our lives–and we are finally here!

Our second season with Panama Posse, taken at Shelter Bay Marina, Fort Sherman, Panamá

We bought our first boat back in 2004 and began a 15-year refit to prepare her for our adventure. Little did we know it would take 15 years to complete the refit and the same amount of time to get our affairs in order so we could retire and travel.

We sold our home in the summer of 2020 and downsized to fit into our new home, No Regrets. Even though we jettisoned most of what we had collected throughout our lives, we were still very cramped on the boat. After two years of traveling on No Regrets, we decided more space was needed, so we started looking for a catamaran. We had chartered catamarans in the Virgin Islands many times so felt a catamaran would make for a more comfortable home with more space.

After extensive research online and some visits to a handful of catamarans, we settled on a brand that fit our needs – Manta. We liked how they were laid out and the very active user group that supports this brand.

This website is the story of our adventures on S/V No Regrets and S/V Cerca Trova. Follow along if this is of interest to you. We hope it is.

Trying to get to the Bahamas – Late Winter 2024

My daughter and her husband had just left to fly back to Portland, OR, after a week of sailing and exploring the upper Keys in Florida at the end of January 2024. We were charging batteries and making water the next day, waiting for a weather window to take us to the Bahamas when the…

Heading South – Winter 2023/24

We left New Bern on November 2, 2023, with Savannah, GA as our next destination. Savannah wasn’t our original plan though. We had planned to stop at Lady’s Island Marina, where we had stayed on our way north, but they didn’t have any space for us in late November. After much research, I was able…

New Bern, NC – Summer/Fall 2023

New Bern, NC is a great little town with a very nice marina right downtown within easy walking distance of many shops and restaurants. On Saturdays, there is a small farmers market that mostly has crafts, but there are some stalls with fruits and vegetables. We planned to spend about a month doing repairs and…
